My Story

Hi there, my name is Maxie Diamantopoulos - founder/CEO of Smiles 4 Miles. I started Smiles 4 Miles at the age of 19 after coming to the end of a very long and challenging health journey that I had been battling for many years.

Towards the later stages of my health journey, I was told by doctors that there was nothing more that could be done to aid my condition, and this was something that I would have to endure indefinitely.

Despite all odds, I was fortunate enough to receive a miraculous and accidental cure to my condition. This was all due to due to a new and temporary illness which pointed attention to a previously unexplored symptom. This both saved and changed my life.

Unlike many other children facing life threatening illnesses, I was fortunate enough to receive a second chance at a healthy life.

For this reason, I wanted to use my fortune to bring joy to other children who are not as lucky as me. Given that they most likely won’t also get a second chance at a healthy life, I wanted to dedicate my second chance to making the last chapter of their lives more enjoyable.

This is why I started Smiles 4 Miles.

I spent years in hospital, bored and miserable, so I designed engaging programs and activities which would bring children excitement and act as a momentary distraction from all that they are going through.

Miracles do happen, and Smiles 4 Miles is my way of sharing my miracle with those who aren’t as lucky as me to receive one.
